I only entered one, One Loft Race in 2009 and once again a bird off my Super breeders “Jericho” & “Miss Adrenalin” breeds a winner. “48376″ came in 10th on a very tough 350 mile race in the first 2010 VegasRace.us Race. A full sister “Speed Addict” came in 1st on a fast 200 mile and finished 7th Champion bird in the 2007 Texas Gusher.
“Jericho” is a Houben / Janssen mix. Part of being successful at pigeon racing is picking top talent among your birds. Some wait until they have a 1st place winner and breed from it. However sometimes a 1st place winner can be a “one hit wonder” and only won because of Luck! I like to pick my breeders from birds that race consistently at the top week by week and can battle tough weather conditions. They might not have a 1st place win, or even a 2nd, 3rd or 4th place win, but they were always at the top 5% or 10% even when the winds were against them. I also look how their parents and siblings flew. If the line flew good and they fly good, that is how I pick my breeders. Strain or pedigree means nothing to me, when I breed for one loft races.
“Jericho” is that kind of breeder. As a young bird he was a late hatch who I didn’t get trained before his first race which was a 150 mi. Well he was my first bird back. I couldn’t believe he beat birds home which I had trained out to 100 miles, and they all had well over 30 tosses. Jericho had only loft flown for a short time and beat my young bird team home. I continued sending him and he flown out to 300 miles and performed well. “Jericho” is also half brother to “Ace Zapper” 1st 400 mi. 2006 World Ace Challenge, and “Zapper Girl”. “Zapper Girl” is “Ace Zapper’s” full sister who bred 1st place winner 2007 MVS futurity. I put “Jericho” in the breeding loft and he is now my top breeder when mated to “Miss Adrenalin”
“Miss Adrenalin” was a super racer winning 11th/1846 birds in the 2004 Federation race. “Miss Adrenalin” and nest mate brother “Relentless Fighter” were both super racer’s flying at the top week after week through 2001 – 2004 race seasons. They were flown every week regardless of weather conditions. Heavy winds, Rain, Hot weather they raced consistently at the top of the race sheet for years. Their full brothers and sisters were also top racers winning many 1st places and top results against big numbers of birds and lofts in NE Ohio. They were all bred off my “Federation Pair” who were my foundation pair. This line of birds are smaller in size and they were all blue bars. They fly best as adults at the 300 – 400 mile races.
